    We test it

Full diagnostic on the bench. Written report in 1-2 business days.

  3. 3

    Repair or exchange

Cat 70-pin: you pay the repair price at checkout, and if we can't fix it you get a full refund (details on the Cat pages). Everything else: $350 bench fee that credits toward the repair. On other ECMs we quote an exchange unit programmed for your engine.

  4. 4

    Back to you

Cat 70-pin: 3 to 5 days on the bench. Everything else: 15 to 30 days. Plus 1-3 days return shipping. Rush 24-48hr (+$245).

Diesel ECM repair questions we answer every day

How much does diesel ECM repair cost?

Cat 70-pin ECMs are paid in full at checkout: $525 (sale through October 31, regularly $745). If we can't fix it you get a full refund (unless the board itself is damaged beyond repair, a part is no longer made, or it tests good; then $150 covers the bench test, the report and return shipping, and the rest is refunded). On everything else the bench fee is $350 and covers a full diagnostic with a written report, and if we repair the unit it credits 100% toward the repair. Published flat rates, bench fee included: Cat 70-pin (3406E, C10, C12, C15, C16) $525 (sale through October 31, regularly $745). Cummins ISX, ISM, ISL, ISC and ISB $675. Dodge Ram Cummins $545. Detroit DDEC $745. Cummins Celect and Celect Plus go out as a $1,950 tested remanufactured exchange.

How long does diesel ECM repair take?

We work on these every day. Cat 70-pin ECMs: 3 to 5 days on the bench right now. Cummins, Detroit and the other Cat families: run 15 to 30 days. Celect and Celect Plus go out as a tested exchange unit. Add 1 to 3 days each way for UPS. Rush service, 24 to 48 hours on the bench, is $245.

Is there diesel ECM repair near me?

Probably not, and it does not matter. Most of the ECMs on our bench arrive by UPS from shops and owner-operators in other states. Ship the module, it reaches Princeton, Minnesota in 1 to 3 days, and it goes back the same way. A prepaid UPS label is $45. Drop-offs in Princeton are welcome by appointment.

What if my ECM cannot be repaired?

We tell you in writing and quote a tested replacement from stock, programmed to your engine serial. The bench fee credits toward the replacement too, so a failed diagnosis never costs you extra. On a Cat 70-pin we can't fix, you get a full refund of the repair price, unless the board itself is damaged beyond repair or a part is no longer made (then $150 covers the bench test and return shipping and we refund the rest).

Do I lose my tune or customer parameters?

Not on a repair. Your calibration and customer parameters stay in the module. On a replacement we program the unit to your engine serial. On a Cat 70-pin exchange unit, copying your calibration over from your old ECM is included at no charge (send your VIN with your old ECM). On other replacements, carrying a custom tune file over is a separate paid service, so ask up front.

What is the warranty on an ECM repair?

Lifetime on Cat 70-pin repairs, one year on other repairs, and two years on every exchange unit. Details are on the warranty page.

Which diesel ECMs do you repair?

Cummins CM550 through CM2350 (ISX, ISM, ISL, ISC, ISB, X15 and Ram pickups). Caterpillar ADEM II, III and 4 (3406E, C7, C9, C10, C12, C13, C15, C16, 3126). Detroit DDEC VI, DD13, DD15 and DD16 (DDEC III, IV and V are coming back soon, not taking those in yet). Komatsu. Cummins Celect and Celect Plus by tested replacement.

What do I send with the ECM?

The module, your name and email, and the engine serial number. Fault codes and a one-line description of the symptom help us go faster. Start the request on this page and put the confirmation in the box.
